In the fight against cancer, the American Cancer Society places great importance on cancer patient services –hoping to ease cancer’s impact on people’s lives. Direct services to many communities include:
- The American Cancer Society’s toll-free number is a resource for lifesaving cancer information and services through 1-800-ACS-2345, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Lodging at Hope Lodge for out-of-town cancer patients undergoing treatment
- Look Good… Feel Better sessions for women, to help them cope with the physical side effects of treatment
- Summer camp experience for children with cancer
- One-on-one visitation to women diagnosed with breast cancer through Reach to Recovery volunteers
- Transportation for patients to life-saving treatments through Road to Recovery
- Cancer Survivors Network online support found at www.cancer.org
- Man to Man helps men cope with prostate cancer
- I Can Cope provides an educational program for people facing cancer –either personally, or as a friend or family member.
